What is Juul?

Juul Labs is an e-cigarette manufacturer that has been marketing their damper since 2017. In the third quarter of 2018 they had captured 72% of the market, with a turnover of 2 billion dollars. Not bad for a brand that is so short-lived and sold internationally in just a handful of countries. The Juul e-cigarette is not (yet) for sale anywhere on the European mainland.

Why is this brand so popular?

According to various sources, Juul is very aggressive in marketing, with a particular focus on young people. They have (slightly) abandoned this strategy, yet critics claim that they still attract many young people with sweet flavors and a good dose of nicotine. By using nicotine salt, the nicotine content of one Juul e-cigarette is on two packs of normal cigarettes.

Only for former smokers

The founder of Juul recently stated that their products are only intended for switchers and not for new dampers, because they contain addictive substances. Whether that will prevent young people from trying these electronic cigarettes remains to be seen. Although the brand is slowly but surely expanding internationally, due to strict legislation they will still have a major battle ahead in Europe before they are also available here. But with so many loyal customers in America, they don't really need us to stay afloat.
